If you're here, you probably know that a web browser is pretty important. For those who don't even know what a web browser is, you're using one right now. A web browser lets you go to websites and browse the internet. GalliumOS ships Chromium by default, but if you would rather use Firefox, the proprietary version of Google Chrome, or any other Linux browser, that's fine too.

Browsers

GalliumOS supports many different web browsers. These are the most popular ones from the repository, so you can easily install them from the Software Center or with a simple sudo apt-get install command. You can also install any other browser from the Ubuntu repos, even if it's not listed here.

  • Chromium - chromium-browser - The open source project behind Google Chrome. (Installed by default)
  • Mozilla Firefox - firefox - A popular open source web browser from Mozilla.
  • Web - epiphany - A simple yet powerful browser from the GNOME project. Formerly known as Epiphany.
  • Midori - midori - An incredibly fast and lightweight web browser based on WebKit.

GalliumOS is based on Ubuntu, so any other browser that provides Debian/Ubuntu packages can be easily installed on GalliumOS.

Editor's note: Make these lists longer and add more information soon.
