Revision as of 06:47, 15 December 2015

GalliumOS requires "Legacy Boot" features in the firmware of your ChromeOS device. Some devices ship with stock firmware that includes Legacy Boot, and some devices require a firmware update to include it. Others will not work at all.

The chart below lists all ChromeOS devices ever produced, and the vital details regarding their ability to support GalliumOS. If you find any errors, updates, or missing devices, please let us know!

  • Intel Haswell, Broadwell, and Ivy/Sandy Bridge Chromebooks and Chromeboxes are supported by GalliumOS
  • Intel Bay Trail models are still only available in nightly. They will become available in mainline during Beta 2.
  • Intel Pineview models do not have the required firmware features, and are not presently possible to update
  • ARM models do not have the required firmware features, and are not presently possible to update

If you run into any issues not covered here, please check our issue tracker and submit a bug report.

Firmware updates for many devices are available from John Lewis or Matt Devillier.

Additionally, some devices can support dual-boot (GalliumOS alongside ChromeOS) either with stock firmware or with updated firmware. See chrx for more details.
